The evaluation of the above requirements will provide the basis of the student grade. The scale will be based on a mastery level of the requirements through a point system. Grades will be broken down based on a percentage of earned points.
100-90 = A
89-80 = B
79-70 = C
69-60 = D
59 and below will not earn a passing grade
A (+) or (-) will be assigned if the percentage of the points is within two points of either end of the scale.
You must take tests on the day of the test even if you have missed days prior to the test. You have a copy of the reading list and should be up to speed. If not there will be a retake option with the teacher after school or during late arrival time. This class will mostly be tested based in nature. Any student can choose to make up any test at another time to be arranged with the teacher. The key is that it must be taken under the supervision of Platt in room # 107 or another teacher that has talked with Platt. At the end of the semester your class participation grade will be assigned based on the completeness and accuracy of your class notebook/film guide. The completed notebook will be added in as a test score at the end of the semester. Prior to this all grades and progress reports will be scored on points earned on tests only. REMINDER- EACH STUDENT WILL HAVE THE CHANCE TO RETAKE EACH TEST ONE TIME ON THEIR OWN TIME WITH THE SUPERVISION OF THE TEACHER AT A TIME ARRANGED BY THE STUDENT WITH THE TEACHER. You will earn the new mark with the following formula- B and C scores can move up one letter grade D and F scores can move up two letter grades.
Quizzes- We will have a number of quizzes. These act as pre- tests and will not be graded. They just give you an awareness of where you stand with the material.
Rules-
1. You will comply with school rules: A. no food / drink
B. no hat or head wear
C. no inappropriate dress that might distract from learning

2. Be on time- I mark tardies.
3. Students may turn work in one day late at a 10% reduction. Anything turned in after that day can only receive a 50%. Once a unit is over no more late work will be accepted. If a student misses a test due to an absents they have one week from the day the test was given to make it up, after that it becomes a zero.
4. Harassment will not be tolerated. If someone is saying or doing something that bother you let them know verbally. If the action continues tell me and we will take proper action together. Learning should take place in a safe environment. Respect other people even if you disagree with their point of view.
